Understanding checkout

What you pay

At checkout you pay the item subtotal, shipping if the seller charges it, and any applicable processing amount shown in the order summary. The total on the checkout page is the amount that will be charged.

When the seller gets paid

The seller is not paid at checkout. Your payment is held by the platform and released to the seller after the inspection window ends or after you approve the item, whichever comes first. If you open a dispute during the inspection window, the payout stays paused until the dispute is resolved.

Buying is first-payment-wins

Listings are not reserved by adding them to a cart or by an accepted offer. The first completed payment takes the item. If someone else pays first, your payment will not go through and you will not be charged.

Protection applies on-platform only

These protections apply to transactions completed on Gear Depot. If you pay a seller directly — by bank transfer, a payment app, or cash — the platform cannot help you recover the money and your account may be restricted.
