Preferred Sellers

An earned recognition for sellers with a strong, consistent track record on the marketplace.

Effective

What the badge means

PreferredPreferred Sellers have established a strong track record on Gear Depot for successful transactions and account standing.

When you see the Preferred Seller mark, it signals that this seller has a demonstrated history of successful sales and good account standing on GearDepot. It sits alongside — and is separate from — the Verified Business mark (for registered businesses) and Verified Seller mark (for individual sellers), which reflect identity verification.

It's earned, not bought

There is no way to purchase Preferred Seller status and it is not tied to any paid plan or subscription. Sellers earn it through their real activity on the marketplace:

  • A track record of completed sales delivered to buyers
  • Recent, ongoing selling activity — not a one-time burst
  • Positive buyer ratings and reviews
  • An account in good standing

Eligibility is reviewed by our team before the status is granted, so the mark reflects a real, human-reviewed pattern of good selling.

It's monitored over time

Preferred Seller status is not permanent. We re-check it on an ongoing basis. If a seller's recent performance or account standing slips, the status can be paused or removed — so the mark keeps reflecting how a seller is doing now, not just how they did once.

What it is NOT

Preferred Seller status is a reputation signal to help you shop with more confidence. It is not a guarantee of any individual transaction, and it does not change the protections that already apply to every purchase on GearDepot.

Every order — from a Preferred Seller or not — is covered by the same protected checkout, payment hold, and inspection window described in our Terms of Service. Preferred status simply highlights sellers with a strong history; it does not replace your own judgment or the standard buyer protections.
