Opening a dispute
What a dispute is, when you can open one, and what happens next.
What a dispute is for
A dispute is for a money problem with an order you paid for — the item did not arrive, or what arrived is not what was described. It is a different thing from a support ticket and from reporting a listing:
- Dispute — a paid order went wrong and money needs to be decided.
- Report — a listing or user is breaking the rules. Use the Report action
on that listing or seller.
- Support ticket — a question, or anything else that needs a human.
When you can open one
Open a dispute from the order page during the 72-hour inspection window that starts at confirmed delivery.
If a package never arrives at all, it never becomes delivered and no inspection window opens. In that case you can raise an item-not-received dispute once the shipment is comfortably overdue.
What happens
Opening a dispute pauses the seller's payout until the dispute is resolved. Both sides can provide evidence. Photographs of the actual problem, next to the packaging, are the single most useful thing you can supply.
Gear Depot reviews the evidence and decides the outcome. Support cannot guarantee any particular result in advance.
